LIGHT FOR LIVING
Lighthouses... a beacon of light shining brightly in the night providing both a focal point
and a potential source of rescue and hope for mariners in distress. Sailors have always
had a special need for light; the hazards of navigation are formidable enough on a calm
day, but compounded greatly at night with severe weather conditions, submerged rocks, reefs and sandbars, other coastal hazards as well as low visibility.
Keepers of the Lighthouse are committed individuals willing to risk everything in order
to keep “the light shining”. Hard work, extreme isolation and exposure to harsh chemicals used to keep the lights clean and burning were only a few of the obstacles they had to overcome.
Jesus said to His disciples and followers: “You are the Light of the World – a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. (Matthew 5:14) We are the “keepers” of His light in a
dark world. We need to encourage, support and lift each other up daily. Like the
hazards of navigation for a sailor, the race of life can sometimes be an obstacle course.
Life is full of choices and we must make responsible decisions in order to finish our race
well. An athelete training for the Olympics will endure long hours of training and hard
physical exercise to keep in shape to make it to the finish line. His coach and trainer
will keep encouraging him and stand beside him all the way.
When you need an encouraging word, a verse of scripture for the day, prayer and
maybe just “someone to talk to”, Mike is available 24/7 at 866-974-4617.
Mike has been a volunteer Chaplain at a local retirement home for almost 20 years.
He knows how important it is to have that friend, counselor or just someone to talk
to. Give him a call today!

LIGHT FOR TODAY:
“Have the dogged determination to follow through to achieve your goal:
Regardless of circumstances or whatever other people say, think or do.”
Quote from Paul J. Meyer
“Look up, not down, … forward, not back,
Trust that God will bring you His best!
